Monsanto, Portugal
Montsanto is definitely an off-the-beaten track gem in Central Portugal. We visited Castelo Branco earlier this year and managed to squeeze in a day trip to Monsanto.
Why are Monsanto doors special? Many of the buildings here are hewn from giant boulders strewn across the landscape. This aldeia also sits high on a hill so many doors like this one have beautiful peek-a-boo views of the valley below.
