The Trout Angler's Club [Door of the Month]

Edinburgh is one of my favorite places to visit in the summer when the Edinburgh Fringe Festival gives the city a unique and creative energy.

On our recent trip, I took a break from seeing shows to take a door photography walk. That’s when I spotted The Trout Anglers’ Club and literally stopped in my tracks and crossed the street to get a closer look at this magnificent door.

I was struck by the contrast between the elegance of the door and the sporty club it represents.
I simply adore the Art Nouveau style transom window and matching stained glass side lites. The fish themed knocker is a nice touch, don’t you think?

I went to an improv comedy murder mystery show after this photo was taken and when the Pinch Punch troupe asked for a suggestion of a unique hobby, I shouted “door photography!”

They went on to ask me about the best door I’d ever seen and “The Trout Anglers’ Club” was the door that came to mind (recency bias, I suppose). Thus, Tina Trout, door photographer extraordinaire and one of the main “suspects” in the show was born. Thankfully she turned out to be innocent!
