Open the Door to Buffalo, NY

A warm wooden door with an arched top and a circular glass window in the center. The door has ornate metal hinges and is framed by a brick archway. Yellow flowers in pots flank the steps leading up to the door.

Buffalo may not be the first place you think of when planning a vacation in the United States. Yet, there are so many reasons to unlock the door to Buffalo (my hometown).

Buffalo is an architecturally interesting city with Art Deco gems and innovative designs by Frank Lloyd Wright.

Buffalo was the city at the turn of the 20th century. Due to the proximity to Niagara Falls, it was one of the first cities in the country to get electricity.

Today, Buffalo has undergone a renaissance of sorts with fantastic comfort food, craft beer spots, and beloved sports teams (Go Bills!)

I spotted this charming door on a mansion near Delaware Park. The stained glass and elaborate escutcheons.

Instead of just passing through on the way to Niagara Falls or Toronto, why not spend a day getting to know Buffalo.
