I retain full copyright ownership of every photograph on this site at all times. Nothing in this policy sells, assigns, or transfers that copyright to any user. The permissions below are licenses, limited grants to use specific images under specific conditions, not a transfer of ownership.
Free Use (Personal & Editorial)
For personal, editorial, or non-commercial purposes, I grant a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use my photos at no cost, including:
- Blog posts and personal websites
- News and editorial articles
- Social media posts
- Personal, non-commercial printing (e.g., printing a photo for your own home)
Requirements:
- Credit: “Photo: Jennifer Petoff, Sidewalk Safari”
- A live, linked hyperlink back to the specific post the photo appears on at doors.sidewalksafari.com (not just the homepage)
- No cropping, editing, or altering the image
- No use that implies I endorse a product, service, or organization
Where your platform gives you the choice, please leave the link as a standard, followed link rather than adding a “nofollow” tag. Many platforms, including most social media and some blog themes, automatically nofollow outbound links regardless of what you choose. That’s outside your control and doesn’t affect your compliance with this license.
This license may be revoked by me at any time, for any reason, at my sole discretion. This includes, but isn’t limited to, failure to meet the requirements above, or use in a context I reasonably consider offensive, unlawful, misleading, or damaging to my reputation or brand, even if the stated requirements are otherwise met. Once you’ve been notified, you must remove the image within 5 business days.

Commercial Use (License Required)
A paid license is required for any use that generates revenue or promotes a business, including:

- Business or product promotion
- Products for sale (merchandise, packaging, etc.)
- Resale or stock use
- Commercial printing, including display in a business (hotel, restaurant, office) or inclusion in a published book or product
- Use on a monetized website, blog, or social account (ads, affiliate links, sponsored content)

Pricing depends on use and is quoted case by case. Commercial licenses are non-exclusive by default, meaning I may license the same image to other parties. Exclusive use can be arranged on request for an additional fee.
Not Permitted Under Any License
- Claiming a photo as your own work
- Using a photo to train AI models or in AI-generated content
- Reselling or redistributing a photo as a standalone product without a license
- Removing or altering the credit/copyright notice
