Lisbon, Portugal
This yellow door is famous in Lisbon. Located near Palácio de São Bento, you’ll find this door on various postcards in shops around the city.
I normally gravitate toward doors that are overlooked by other photographers. In this case, I couldn’t help but be drawn in by the bold yellow color and elegant grilles around the circular window. I think it looks like a sun, don’t you?
Speaking of the sun, this door is actually somewhat difficult to capture because it lives in such a sunny location. One of my top tips for how to photograph a door is to wait for uniform cloudy weather to avoid shadows.
Even though there is a little shadow here, I took the picture anyway since the yellow seemed to just light up in the sunshine.
